St Andrews School
We work closely with the adjoining St. Andrew’s CofE Primary School wanting to radiate God’s love to the whole community
Here at St Andrew’s, we have a unique opportunity to work in partnership with the school community. The church and school are neighbours, with a shared boundary through a partition door.
The two overlap and support each other, with the vicar on the school’s governing body and the Headteacher on the church PCC (Parochial Church Council). The Chair, Vice-Chair, and two parent-governors are all part of St. Andrew’s Church, helping to secure a strong Christian ethos in the school. The vicar visits the school each week and is available for any children, parents or members of staff who need pastoral care.
Every Wednesday the whole school gathers in church for a time of worship. With over 200 children, the teaching staff, parents and friends of St. Andrew’s Church attending the school assembly, we see this as “church” for many of our children.
On the first Sunday of the month, we hold our Altogether service at 10:30am in church where we invite children from the school to join us in leading a song, reading the Bible, leading the prayers, or being involved in some other creative activity.
If parents would like to their children to attend the school a church reference will make a significant difference. To obtain this, you need to have attended church at least every fortnight for a minimum of six months and have the forms signed by the vicar.
